Now that you’ve bought you’re new RV, it’s time to do some decorating! After all, this is your new home-away-from-home for some of you and your new permanent home for those of you full-timers out there. Decorating an RV can be somewhat more difficult than decorating a house though for a few reasons. Probably the most obvious is the fact that your RV is in motion a lot — sudden stops, taking wide corners, etc. So when it comes to hanging wall decorations, the typical nail may not be the best option.
A screw on the other hand will definitely suffice. I’d recommend this option for the heavier things you wish to hang like candle holders, large mirrors, etc. Just remember, that using screws involves drilling which can be somewhat of a pain and will also leave a nice hole in your wall. Odds are, you will redecorate your RV at some point and it’s much easier if you don’t have to respackle old holes.
For the lighter items like picture frames, there are two easy options that do the job and will not leave you having to repaint or spackle your RV interiors. The first option is velcro. Velcro strips are wonderful and come in all different sizes. My favorite are the small squares because you can put them on all four corners.
The other option, and my favorite by far, is to use 3M adhesive strips. They are perfect for hanging practically anything (nothing too heavy like a TV though). Removing them is super easy and leaves not trace on your wall! They also make various sizes of hooks that are great for hanging jackets, towels and what ever else your heart desires. The best part about these strips is that they are inexpensive, simple and quick to use. Using either one of these in your RV eliminates the possibility of things flying off your walls when your RV is in motion and gives you a lot of freedom when is comes to decorating.
